Alice, the ChowHound, has loved animals it seems like forever. There has always been at least one four-legged friend in her home. Strays and wild creatures find their way into her life also. If it's not a turtle getting rescue from crossing the road, it's the stray cats knowing where to get a good meal at her front door. Mind you, some of the neighbor's cats have picked up on the free food cafe also and make frequent visits with insistent meows at the door.
She currently dotes on one dog, two cats, a three-year old son and her husband. Tuppence, a two year old German Shorthaired Pointer, is a recent acquisition, She is a an autism service dog for her son, Evan. Tuppence is currently expanding her knowledge to learn how to assist Evan, which includes, providing safety while walking in public, calming Evan in a stressful environment, and training with Evan in some of his therapy sessions at the hospital. Evan learns cause and effect concepts and improves his language skills as he gives instructions to Tuppence. No doubt, we will hear more about Tuppence and her successes with Evan in our blog.
One of her other passions is food. She has been dubbed many names by her friends who have shared a bite or ten at her home – Martha, Julia, food diva, hostess with the most-est, etc. She has attended JCCC's Culinary Program, was a personal chef, and reads all the text in her collection of MANY cookbooks. Cuisines of many styles and cultures inspire her recipes. So when asked to participate with Dogs Life KC, she jumped at the chance.
Cuisine with a canine – is a match made in heaven.
