Heddie's first dog came from a dumpster from the back of her school. She was late to school that day, but does not regret retrieving the puppy from the dumpster and taking him home. Although her dad said, NO DOGS!!! She kept little Dukie safe and sound, and he later became a beloved family member for 18 years. Her dad eventually warmed up to the little black pup. Over the years there has been a continual stream of homeless pups in her life. Including Hero, who came to join her family at the age of 18 months after his first owner passed away. Together Hero and Heddie provide programs for youth regarding responsible pet owners, anti-bully, respect and kindess.
Heddie, Hero and Hero's daughter, Halo, are active education and therapy volunteers with numerous local and national organizations. A few of them are: Association of Professional Humane Educators, 4H Dog Project Leader, Delta Society, AKC Public Education Ambassador, Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and Northland Animal Welfare Soceity.
She and her husband, Ron, own PawZone PetSitting, but are best known around town for animal-assisted therapy and educational programs with her Rottweilers Hero, Halo and now retired Karli. Their current household contains five dogs, two cats, and one turtle. Hero and Heddie invite you to join in creating a "Circle of Caring" Canine Community by joining with us in DogsLifeKC.
